Georgian style properties in Devon and Cornwall
This week I have been viewing properties for clients looking for a Georgian style property in Devon and Somerset. Luckily the weather has been kind and there have not been the rainy days of the past months. Sometimes I find that clients have in their own mind what they want although it may not always be appropriate in the long run when thought through properly.
Some look for land albeit a smallholding but not realise the work that it entails looking after it. If you have horses and need the paddocks and stabling of course, but land does require attention and whilst someone may do it for you, there is stock proofing, fencing, drainage and general land management to always be attended to. I always tell clients that it should be checked to see if there are any grants available from DEFRA for this. There are restrictions on usage sometimes but it can be well worth it cost wise. With a small acreage it's always handy if the farmer can come in and top or use the grass for silage if there are no animals on it. I usually suggest some rare breed sheep that will keep the grass down.
